I know it has been a while since I submitted an update. I have been working on the logistics of the website and collecting articles for Procedural Gems. I would like to continue providing regular updates on things.
Although slow, progress on Real-Time Visual Effects for Technical Artists continues. I am baout 4/5 of the way through my simulations chapter. I thought it would be fast but the more I write the information I want to include. While finishing my research for moving fluids, I came upon this create article from Ben Cloward describing Gurstner waves. Up until this point I did not plan to include these in the book since I could not reduce the math into a form simple enough for the audience to digest. Ben did a very good job so I took a variation of his strategy and included it. Thanks Ben!
Rene Bencik, a former student, was working on the images for my previous chapter, In-Material Effects. Regretfully Rene was deported. But all is very good for him. He was picked up by CodeMasters in London and starts once he finishes his quarentine. The work Rene accomplished is fantastic. He will be missed!
Speeking of Images for the book, if anyone out there would like to help with images, please get in contact with me. All of the images are generate din either Houdini or UE4.
Don't forget, Tech Art Talk Live! this week will cover a brief introduction to the "The Rendering Equation". Houdini Secrets Live! will give a quick introduction to the Houdini / UE4 Terrain Pipeline. I look forward seeing all of you on Friday!
