Happy Holidays to Tech Artists and Digital Artists everywhere!
TechArtEDU is not broadcasting this week but that does not mean we've been on vacation. Far from it! In fact, with scholastic responsibilities on the back burner, production for Real-Time Visual Effects for the Technical Artist and Procedural Gems is in overdrive!
I am drawing near finishing my second draft for Chapter #6, "Simulations", for Real-Time Visual Effects for the Technical Artist. This chapter has taken way longer to finish than I expected. I just hope my publisher is understanding. Writing continues at a furious pace. I want to be finished with Chapter 6 by the end of next week so I can start writing Chapter 7, "Particles", in the new year. Sorry folks, chapter 7 will not be super detailed. There are just too many "design" aspects of visual effects to deal with particles. The technology aspect is fairly straight forward. I may follow up in the future with a Visual Effects cookbook which focusses purely on the design aspects of the craft.
I am still on the lookout for illustration help! All of the images in Chapter 6 are slated to be completed in Houdini or UE4. There is not a lot of money for this project; it all comes out of my pocket directly. I can promise a Houdini license for a year for you to complete the images. If this little adventure sounds interesting to you and you want to get your hands dirty with Houdin and UE4 simulations, drop me a line at Chris@TechArtEDU.com and let's talk! I will also need help generating images for my Particles chapter. Although these images will be generated from UE4, I can still offer the same deal for creating the images.
Procedural Gems continues to be processed! I finished transcribing all of the articles and I am now transcribing the interviews. I just finished with my first interview; Thank You Rob Stauffer! Upon finishing the rest of these interviews, I will pull the element together into one manuscript and make it available for free download from https://techartedu.com. Expect this arriving in mid-February! More details to come as progress is made!
Thanks for all of your support in 2020. Things are just getting started and the best is yet to come! Have a Merry Christmas!
